Family Temple Planner

Find a temple trip date that works for the whole extended family.

Family Temple Planner on three phones: a relative typing the name the family knows them by, marking which days work, and the organizer's options ranked by who can come

Screens are from a demo trip on the live site: every name is invented. An independent project, not affiliated with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Why it matters

Coordinating a trip for a large family usually means a long group thread. Here, the organizer sets a window and a shortlist of temples, relatives mark their availability without making an account, and the app ranks the options that include the most people.

  1. 01

One link for the whole family

Relatives open it, type their name and tap the days that work. Nothing to sign up for.

  2. 02

    Nobody quietly left out

Options come best fit first, and anyone a date would leave out is named rather than counted.

  3. 03

    Private by design

No addresses, no Church Account and no trackers: the sensitive details are never collected in the first place.

The details

Features5
  • Plans with a window of up to 60 days, in the family's time zone.
  • A shortlist of up to five temples, and a two-tap “can you get there?” answer for each.
  • No accounts: the organizer gets a private link to manage the trip and a separate one to send the family. Signing in is optional and only keeps a list of past trips.
  • A fairness ranking that names who an option would leave out, rather than just counting them.
  • Booking stays on the Church's official site; the planner never signs in to a Church system.
How it works
  • Rebuilt mid-project from “every relative needs an account” to “only the organizer has one”, and later to no required accounts at all.
  • Sign-in links, invitations, sessions and each relative's answer secret are stored only as keyed hashes.
  • An approximate-location map was removed: asking whether each person can get to each temple answered the question better, so no coordinates are stored.

Share link page for a demo family trip in November: three steps (tap the days, say which temples you can reach, the organizer books), then a relative types the name their family will recognise, with no account or password
